Lyrics
My Broken Shelf
By Daryl Stevenett
I was strong ‘cause I believed
‘cause they told me this is everything I need
Deep in my heart, I thought I knew
I was happy, because I had the truth
Now I’m picking up the pieces of my broken shelf
I couldn’t find the answers, I couldn’t even find myself
Something had to give, something had to break
So many questions couldn’t carry all that weight
Now I’m being true, true to myself
Now I’m picking up the pieces, of my broken shelf
It’s gonna take some time
To heal this broken heart of mine
Tomorrow, is gonna be a brand new day
But will I ever find my way
Now I’m picking up the pieces of my broken shelf
No more preaching, you can all go to hell
Oh I believed you, I believed all your lies
Now everything is clear since I opened up my eyes
Now heaven is deep, deep within myself
Now I’m picking up the pieces, of my broken shelf
Bridge:
The anger and the hurt
I pray, will fade away some day
A circle of pious, patrons all in white
Have slowly turned to grey
And I’m picking up the pieces of my broken shelf
I finally found the answers now I only trust myself
I’m picking up the pieces of this shattered man
It shouldn’t be so hard, so hard to understand
Now give me the simple life, that’s the way, the way it’s gonna be
I’m picking up the pieces, picking up the pieces,
I’m still picking up the pieces… the pieces of me
