Daryl's father bought him his first guitar when he was 12 from a pawn shop in Calgary. Later at age 13, he drove his Mother around their farming community in the family station wagon collecting data for the Canadian census. With the money his Mother earned, she bought him his first real guitar, a used Suzuki classical... it cost around $90. That was the start of a lifelong passion for playing, performing, writing and recording.
Daryl has made his living writing jingles for many radio and TV stations, many of which are still being played today.
Daryl thanks his "New Idols", Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Doyle Dykes (and too many to mention) that have helped him evolve in his playing, thanks to youtube and everyone sharing what they know. These "Guitar Giants" have helped push the acoustic guitar to a new level and into the hands of thousands of young players giving them something to bite on and keeping them on a constructive path!
Daryl believes that creativity equals passion and he strives every day to better his musical craft.
- Currently, Daryl writes books during the day and plays music in the evening. He spends his summers performing at the Nugget Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota and spends his winters performing in Englewood, Florida.
